Hi Neighbors!
I am running for the Milton 1-year Selectboard seat in the March election, and I wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been a Milton resident for more than 40 years. My husband and I are the proud parents of two daughters who have graduated from Milton Schools and are now grown and flown and doing wonderful things, due in large part, to some great teachers in our local schools. We now share a household with our goldendoodle, Daisy, and our new kitten, Bean.
I’m a special educator, and I’ve spent my career collaborating with families, teachers, administrators, and outside providers to specifically identify and meet real needs, navigate legal regulations and deadlines, and manage resources with care. My husband and I have also owned small businesses, including a mission-driven coffee shop that employed individuals with disabilities, and a 5k fun-run event series which included thousands of participants, hundreds of vendors, and the need to navigate and plan for local permitting, traffic needs, security, utility needs, emergency response, and risk management needs. Additionally, every event raised money for local causes, including events which supported Milton Project Grad. Additionally, we founded the Milton Color Run to support Milton School field trips.
I’m running for Select Board because I care deeply about Milton and the people in it, and because I believe this is a moment to strengthen trust in town government and engage a broader spectrum of Milton residents. When people feel unheard, or when decisions feel unclear, people disengage. That’s how we lose good ideas, good volunteers, and public confidence. I want Milton to lead with a transparent process, clear criteria, and consistent standards, so residents can see how decisions are made and trust that every voice matters.
My priorities are straightforward. We need to implement practices which ensure that all residents feel safe and empowered to to be actively engaged in the workings of our town. We need to attract the right businesses to broaden the tax base. We need to take affordability seriously by reviewing budgets and revenue with fresh eyes and generating practical ideas that expand access to affordable housing. We also need to look honestly at the services and resources that drive residents to spend their money outside of Milton, then make smart, staged investments that keep dollars here and make Milton a destination for surrounding communities.
I’m ready to listen, collaborate, and work for the people of Milton to ensure a fidelity to fiscal responsibility, decision making transparency, and a commitment to all voices being fairly and respectfully heard.
